Mike Cardona.

8/26/1978 - 10/5/1998.

Mike was Quim's brother. The Cardonas are from Scotch Plains, New Jersey and they grew up skating all the East Coast spots. He rode for Real, Spitfire, Thunder, and Airwalk. Mike did a lot of street grabs and big ollies, which was a little different than a lot of what was going on at the time. I liked his style.

The photo is by Geoff Kula.

I love Mike! I miss him! I had a dream about him the other night and we got to hang out again like it was the 90s. It got me sentimental. The last time we hung out was just prior to his passing. we were on my trampoline in our home town bouncing away. He told me about his elbow injury which was causing him to stop skating for a bit. He seemed optimistic and said he would do art instead. I gave him a new sketch book- new except that it coincidentally had a spitfire sticker he had given me in it. When he passed I had to drop one of my college classes cause it depressed me that much. We didn't hang out often but I'm glad I got that last time with him. I also invite him to visit me in my dreams more! it was great to see him! He really was always so kind to me. In our home town the Cardona twins were legendary by middle school but to me Mike was just a guy who used to blow kisses at me in the hallway and give me his jacket if I was cold. He was the always sweetest.
