Kyong Kim.

I'm as surprised as you are.

Kyong was pro for Toxic. That's about all I know. He also had a couple curb tricks in the opening part of the new Assault Skateboards video, which is why I dug this ad up.

Assault has a promo video out now. It's a fun little flick. The intro is a total curb attack featuring the team and friends, including Mario Rubalcaba, Kyong, Jason "Weeman" Acuna, Heavy Metal Chuck, and Aly Moore. Ollies are not popped and every trick is slappied into. There are parts from younger team riders Greg Harbour, Wildman, Demarcus James, Casey Meyer, and Ace Pelka. They all rip with combination of new and old tricks. The highlights for me are the parts from former H-Streeters Chris Livingston and Kieu "Donger" Lieu. Livingston tears up a couple of pools and the Donger can still ollie over everything in the streets. Finally, the video ends with Ricky Winsor slashing around on a few backyard quarterpipes. SSD.

Great post! This is why I come here daily. I remember reading why "The Chrome Ball" was coming to an end and Chops said he was running out of material. He said he didn't want to end up scanning Toxic Wheel ads.

Thanks.

Truthfully, the content is running a little low. This applies to the older mags that have the best stuff. Those issues didn't have a lot of pages and after a few years of everybody internetting things, the well starts to run dry.

I think there are still a lot of untapped things from the mid 1990s. There is also the factor of the mags getting bigger in the later 1990s. You have more to work with, but it doesn't have the same impact as the older ads and photos. More so-so content. But at the same time for younger generations, that was what interested them, much like whatever little random thing we picked up in 1989.

As of late, my opinion has become that if something hasn't appeared on VID yet, that it is fair game. I'm not worrying about what everybody else is doing.

awesome. Glad you enjoyed the Assault video. Just a fun skate video and some tricks filmed with phones. Ned just likes to make skateboarding fun still.
